A good pub as in one that you would actually go to when it's not a football match. But on match days it's a good pre or post match stop.

History

Arsenal was formed in 1886, with the club spending its first 27 years south of the Thames in Woolwich, before moving to their new home of Highbury in North London. In the meantime they became the first southern based team to join the Football League and since joining the top division in 1919, they have stayed there to this day. With thirteen league titles and ten FA Cup wins to their name, Arsenal is one of England's most successful football clubs.

The Gunners spent 93 years in their famous Highbury home, before a second move, this time metres and not miles, saw Arsene Wenger’s men call the Emirates Stadium their new home in 2006. The Ashburton Grove venue, constructed in little over three years, is just around the corner from their old home. With 60,432 seats, the Emirates is the second largest stadium in the Premier League after Old Trafford and arguably hosts some of the best facilities available to football fans across the world.

Arsenal have Herbert Chapman to thank for putting on the road to the top of the English game. Following success at Huddersfield Town, Chapman led the Gunners to their first title in 1930 and set up their dominance of that decade with a further four league titles following. Other famous names to fill the hot-seat are Bertie Mee and George Graham, who each brought the first division title to Highbury. Arsene Wenger was the club’s first overseas manager and can claim to be their most successful.

There are numerous household names associated with Arsenal, particularly from their successful spells in the nineties and early 21st century. Thierry Henry will often be the player mentioned by fans as the greatest ever to don the red and white, though many will also point to fellow strikers Dennis Bergkamp and Ian Wright, as well as the stalwart Tony Adams or back a few years to the silky skills of Liam Brady. With the financial might of the north London side, one thing you can rely on is a similar quality of players when you visit the Emirates Stadium.
